The companion Century Foundation task force book, Defeating the Jihadists, examined how America and its friends could deal with the rise in violent Islamist extremism. The solution is not usually a military approach, but involves law enforcement, intelligence, and most importantly an ideological counter-weight to the views of groups like al Qaeda.
