A Century Foundation task force on homeland security draws together many of the best minds on the challenges of securing America from terrorism here at home. The authors examine how we can secure rails, cyber networks, ports, and other key facilities from conventional bombs, and WMD-related weapons. The companion Century Foundation task force book, Defeating the Jihadists, examined how America and its friends could deal with the rise in violent Islamist extremism. The solution is not usually a military approach, but involves law enforcement, intelligence, and most importantly an ideological counter-weight to the views of groups like al Qaeda.
